Our 2011 AGM was held in the "Town House Hotel",Naas,Co.Kildare.Proceedings got underway at 16:30 after a reception of tea & biscuits, kindly laid on by the management of the hotel. Attendance wasn't what we expected, with only 14 members in total on the day.Nonetheless, the meeting went well with all agenda topics covered...
With so much emphasis on re-cylcling and the high costs of printing,we decided on a Powerpoint presentation at the meeting.I'm glad to report that this went well and we hope to continue with this format for future meetings..(Please see the attached link below).

St.Patrick's Day Parade 2011 |

The 2011 St.Patrick's Day Parade in Athy,Co.Kildare was a great success.Assembly started at 13:00 on the day at the IDA Centre just outside the town. There was a great turn out of Minors for the parade, twelve in all.We were also graced with the prescence of an Austin A35 and a superb Morgan8.These two cars are owned by two of our club members, such is their enthusiasm for classic cars.
The parade kicked off shortly after 14:00.We were placed in sixth position by the organisers. We were preceded by the local scout group, marching bands, fire brigade and rescue teams,to name but a few.It was good that we got going early in the parade as the Minors don't like traffic.
Most floats stopped at the Emcee's stand for an introduction to their group. We were no exception to this,so we put on a bit of a stint...Denis McCarthy was first to arrive at the stand. After the Emcee introduced and ushered us on,Denis got out of his car and jestured to me that all was not well with his Morris.Myself and John Lawlor rushed to his assistance. When Denis open the bonnet we noticed a lot of loose bits about the engine bay.
In order to get to the root of the problem,we discarded these bits onto the road. They included an air filter housing, two wheel trims,an old boot and a rope. The rope was approx.six feet long but it got stuck when I tried to remove it.Denis shouted at me to give it a good pull and lord behold,it came unstuck along with an attachment,....A rubber chicken..It went down well with the crowd. And if that wasn't bad enough, the car would't start on the key.But not to worry, with a quick flick of the starting handle,it was up and running.
After the parade,we all met up at the Clonard Court Hotel for dinner.

Just a note to let you know that the committee came out of hibernation last week to get the ball rolling for this seasons events. The season starts off,as usual, with the St.Patrick's Day Parade. It is hoped that we'll have a run before that to help clear the cob webs from the cars that have laid dormont over the winter months.

We also have the National Rally to organise this season, since the Munster Club hosted it in Bandon last year. Other regular events include the likes of Trim,Mosney,Fingal,Terenure and the Gordon Bennett Run to name but a few.
We will be posting all information on these events as soon as we have the details confirmed.
If you have any suggestions or queries please don't hesitate to contact any of the committee. We'll be delighted to help in any way possible. |

We've had a request for some help from one of our members, Mr.Aiden Egan. Aiden has been trying to trace a Morris Minor that belonged to his father. So far, all leads have fallen through. The last glimmer of hope was in 2007 in an area known as the "Man-O-War", North Co. Dublin.
Date of first registration, March 1955. Registration Number, NRI 38. Chassis Number, MMF5396 Engine Number, APHM161774. Colour, Black Split Windscreen
Aiden would be very grateful of any assistance anyone can offer and he can be contacted on 087-3146547. |

This year's Bandon event is being held over two days only. Previous visitors to this event, which was then called the "Bandon Experience", have enjoyed a whole week of "Craic agus Ceol". Nonethless, the Bandon Crew put on great show for all.

The Gordon Bennett Run'10 will take place on the June Bank Holiday Weekend,4th-7th June..This event always draws great attention from the Classic and Vintage car fraternity. At the moment we are not sure how many IMMOC members are taking part but it is well worth the trip down to see all the great cars on parade.

The IMMOC are pleased to announce the launch of our new website! It has taken several meetings with the designers and a lot of hard work by the committee, but it's finally ready in time for this Sunday's AGM, and doesn't it look grand?
We will be adding more content as time goes by (videos, articles etc) but we have already begun on uploadeding a fine selection of photos for you to browse through (lots more to follow).
Details on how to register with the site for login will be sent to all members shortly - once you have that you can participate in the forums, leave comments on photos, read The Minor Mag online (wow!) and more.
The new site was designed by altFIRE Technologies in Dundalk, with much input from the committee members.
